Izu Emeagwali is a Vice President and Assistant General Counsel at JPMorgan Chase & Co. Izu works on data, cybersecurity, privacy and intellectual property matters for the Corporate and Investment Bank. Prior to joining JPMorgan, Izu was a Senior Associate at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP. At Cleary Gottlieb, Izu worked on complex commercial, intellectual property and antitrust litigation cases as well as government enforcement matters, including antitrust and securities investigations. Izu assessed intellectual property risk for merger and acquisitions, including the acquisition of products, technology solutions and software companies. In addition, Izu drafted various agreements, including service, non-disclosure, consulting and common interest agreements. Izu served as an active member of the firm’s pro bono practice where she led teams of associates in various international human rights and policy pro bono cases focusing on African states. Izu advised non-profits on corporate governance and negotiated and drafted strategic agreements on their behalf. After graduating law school, Izu completed a one year fellowship at the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law where she worked on fair housing cases. Izu received a J.D. degree, magna cum laude, from Howard University School of Law in 2010 and a B.S.E. in electrical engineering from the University of Pennsylvania in 2005. In 2001, Izu graduated from the Westover School, where she was a member of the Women in Science and Engineering program. Izu enjoys mentoring, traveling and exploring real estate investments.
