Nicole is a Director in the New York Office of KPMG LLP’s Risk Consulting practice. She is a licensed attorney in the state of New York and has more than 13 years of experience providing compliance services to clients. Nicole's specializes in heping clients develop strategies that are tailored to their organizations, based upon established business goals, risk tolerances and regulatory needs. She also works closely with clients to assess their existing activities and controls, design roadmaps to a future operating state and implement the requisite changes. Nicole's regulatory expertise is primarily in Financial Crimes.
Nicole has managed teams of up to 35 staff and has co-managed teams of over 100 team members (including contractors). She has co-authored articles for the compliance and risk community, focused on the compliance journeys, adopting to regulatory changes, automation of financial crimes activities and approaches to FCPA compliance. She has also co-authored thought leadership publications that assist Compliance Officers in enhancing their compliance metrics, data analytics, privacy compliance, monitoring and testing efforts, integration of financial crimes activities and building Financial Crimes programs for the future.
Nicole is frequently a guest speaker for the Fordham Law School Corporate Compliance Institute. She is the lead Director within KPMG for development of Advisory’s AML Training Program and has served as a Performance Management Leader for up to eight (8) counselees.
Prior to joining KPMG, Nicole was employed by the NYC Board of Education as a High School Global History and Business Law Teacher. In this role, she coached the Tottenville High School Mock Trial team, winners of the 2004 NYC Championship.
Nicole received her undergraduate degree from Binghamton University in May 2001 and her Juris Doctor from Fordham Law School in February 2006.
Nicole currently resides with her husband Brendon Girardi, son Benjamin and daughter Caroline in New York.
